Spicy lemon grass soup with chicken. This was my favorite course!
Spring rolls
Garlic shrimp, Crispy fried chicken, Paht Thai noodles
Ginger mixed vegetables
Dessert: Coconut tapioca, Kona coffee
My pal, Al, recommended Phuket Thai Restaurant, located in the McCully Shopping Center, as a fantastic place to dine. ”Phuket” is pronounced with a “P,” not with an “F.” On Sunday, David and I had lunch there with our friends, Dee and Don, and we were not disappointed. We got there around 11:30 am and easily found an unreserved table. By 12:30 pm, the place was packed. The food was delicious and delightful, but it was noisy and smoky near the kitchen. The smoke led to Dee’s coughing fit. Auwe! My advice to you would be to sit near the entrance to the restaurant rather than next to the kitchen in the back.
Anyway, back to the food. We ordered the Dinner for Four, a 7-course meal that cost just $69.95. Excellent! I especially liked the spicy lemon grass soup with chicken because of its unique flavors! Besides the food pictured above, the dinner came with a choice of white, brown, or sticky rice and Kona coffee or Thai hot tea. You can request that the food be mild, medium, or hot. We requested mild.
Amazingly, we plowed through the seven courses, and not a morsel was left on our plates. Mahalo, Al, for pointing us toward this restaurant.

I know what you mean. Don is 1/2 Korean, 1/4 Chinese, 1/4 Hawaiian. He wanted it hot, but the 2 haoles and I over-ruled him. Because the food was mild, it seemed more like Chinese, rather than Thai, cuisine. Too bad this spread did not include Thai curry. I missed it.
