Well, it’s final. Coach June Jones has declined UH’s last-minute offer to increase his salary and fix the facilities, and has accepted the job offer from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He will make $2 million annually for 5 years. He told reporter Stephen Tsai that he is at “peace” with his decision.
Besides the fact that SMU is 100% committed to Jones and their football program, I believe that SMU also has a religious dimension that appeals to Jones, who has actually gone on TV to discuss his religious awakening after his near-fatal car crash. I think the powers that be at SMU are also more refined than UH Athletic Director Herman Frazier, who seems sleazy to me.
Good luck to June Jones! I wish him well – not only financially, but also emotionally and spiritually.

JJ had no choice but to leave. He sacrificed his position for the sake of the program. His departure has embarrassingly brought to light how deplorable conditions have been throughout his tenure and amazingly, how he’s still managed to squeeze out a national contender. But, really, Junes departure exposed how incompetent both UH’s administration and the states’ legislature truly are. They all got caught sleeping, mouth agape with their pants down.
UNBELIEVABLE!

In March, when you wrote your letter asking for HF to be fired, Hinshaw was NOT the Chancellor, Konan was. Please do not tie in Hinshaw as the newcomer to this disaster. Hinshaw will be the star in taking action with a flair. Check her hat out at the Sugar Bowl. KL P.S. You were one of the first to stand up and write letters.

KL, I hope Hinshaw will take action. We’ll see.
