Located in the Pearl Kai shopping mall.  Check your phone book for other branches.

champa-appetizer-a.jpg

Combination appetizer.  $10.95.  Consisted of 2 spring rolls, 4 shrimp toasts, 2 chicken sateh, and mee krob noodles.  We wolfed these down immediately.

champa-green-papaya-a.jpg

Green papaya salad with tomatoes and red chili peppers in a tangy sauce.  $7.45.  David loves this dish and always orders it when we dine at a Thai restaurant.

champa-panang-curry-a.jpg

Panang curry.  $8.45.  Beef and green beans cooked in a spicy mixture of curry and coconut milk.  I loved this dish the most.  It was so delicious I continued to spoon the sauce over my rice long after the beef was consumed.

champa-kun-pao-a.jpg

Thai kun pao chicken.  $8.95.  Stir-fried chicken, cashew nuts, bell peppers, and round onion.  The Thai version of a Chinese dish, it was spicy.

champa-sticky-rice-a.jpg

Sticky rice.  $1.95.  My favorite kind of rice!

Dessert:  Tapioca with apple banana and coconut milk.  $1.50.  Sweet and light.

I absolutely adore the food at Champa Thai, which is located in the Pearl Kai shopping mall.  I lived in Thailand for almost a year after graduating from the University of Hawaii, and every time I dine at a Thai restaurant in Hawaii, it brings back fond memories.

Although we ordered the food “mild,” it was quite hot so you can imagine how much hotter the food is when ordered “medium” or “spicy.”  David was dripping with sweat as he ate, but I was as cool as a cucumber.

And yes, we ate every bit of what we ordered.  No left-overs.  We are so stuffed, we might skip dinner tonight.  We definitely will be back to Champa Thai.

Good stuff. Just curious, in that you are a Thai food expert, and I don’t have that discriminating taste for Thai food, but love them all. How does Chiang Mai and MeKyong stack up with Champa Thai?

I haven’t been to Chiang Mai and Mekong in years, so I don’t know what they are like now. But of the two, I preferred Mekong to Chiang Mai. Maybe I should pay both another visit just out of curiosity. I guess I like Champa Thai the best of all.

Thanks Gigi. I keep an eye out for Champa Thai when I venture out from Kaimuki to Pearl City side.
