Are there weddings in Iraq?

By gigihawaii

On Saturday, Jenna Bush married Henry Hager at the Bushes’ ranch in Crawford, Texas.  “Just as the vows were exchanged,” said President Bush, “the sun set over our lake, and it was just a special day and a wonderful day and we’re mighty blessed.”

Yes.

But, I haven’t seen any recent photos of wedding celebrations in Iraq, where there is so much needless suffering and strife.  By invading that country, we opened Pandora’s box and made a bad situation worse.  The Iraqi are not better off.  The world is not safer.  And the good ole USA is sinking in debt due to the prohibitive cost of the war.

When will it end?  If, as president, Barack Obama pulls our troops out of Iraq next year, there obviously will be more bloodshed.  Nevertheless, we must withdraw and let the Iraqi save their own nation.  I can’t see us staying there for 100 years, as suggested by John McCain.  That’s just wrong.  It’s a war we cannot win, because we have not captured the hearts of ALL Iraqi.  So many of them want us to leave.

We have to stop being the cops of the world and focus on our own domestic problems, instead.

partition is the only solution for Iraq’s civil war and to end the predicted “ragged ending.” But, you know, we wouldn’t want a Shiite nation to emerge and ally with a Shiite Iran. Oh, no. So, the only reasonable and practical solution is inconducive to the Bush Administration’s political interest. Thus “stay the course” in the quicksand, why don’t we, huh?
