It was Independence Day yesterday, and David asked if I intended to barbecue something for dinner. “Too much work,” I replied. “Let’s do ribs at Tony Roma’s, instead.” So, the branch in Westridge is where we had lunch.
We started our lunch with warm bread and herb butter.

Then we dug into a plate of onion rings and spicy BBQ sauce. $6.99. Excellent!

David ordered a full slab of baby back ribs, a baked potato, and cole slaw. $23.99. Ravenous, he polished it off before I was half finished with my meal.

I ordered a half-slab of baby back ribs, 4 coconut shrimp, a baked potato, and broccoli. $24.99. The sweet dip tasted good with the shrimp and broccoli. The meat was so tender and juicy, it fell off the bones.
Cat bites.
Yesterday morning, I tried to place Kitty in a cage, so we could take him to the vet for a check-up. He resisted and, as a result, I got 3 scratches and 6 puncture wounds on my hands. Pictured here are a couple of punctures from his teeth. Note that the first two knuckles don’t show due to swelling. I could not extend my fingers, nor could I make a fist. (I still can’t.) After lunch, David drove me to the emergency room, where I was examined. I was given a tetanus shot, a 10-day prescription for Augmentin, an antibiotic, and instructions to see my regular physician in two days. I am treating the pain with Advil. (Subsequent visits to the doctor: new prescriptions for Cipro and Doxycycline, which are also antibiotics.)
Needless to say, Kitty never made it to the vet, but he made sure I went to the doctor, instead. Nice cat! I hope he stops limping and favoring his left front paw. Thorn? Broken glass? Fracture? Maybe, his paw will heal itself.

Oh, drats! Gigi —
Antibiotics can sometimes “rip out” the natural flora that’s in your intestines. Sooooo, eat 4 to 5 spoonfuls of any kind of yogurt (except frozen,) with each antibiotic pill you take. (Unless you happen to love acidopholus milk.) That way, the active yogurt cultures will keep any antibiotic-caused gassiness or slight diarrhea at bay. But you DO need the antibiotics, so take them all as directed.
Most animals are cranky or bite if they’re really hurting, so kitty may still need to see a vet before it gets worse, and the vet bill could be bigger than the human hand bill!
Hope it feels better in a day or so.

wow Gigi, hope your hand gets better soon. I don’t understand cats, like dog’s won’t bite the hand that feeds them(master) but cats on the other hand seem to be tempermental.
thanks for reminding us what Tony’s has to offer, that meal looks hmm hmm good.

Thanks, guys. I will send David to the store, although the antibiotic has not given me diarrhea yet.

I was salivating at the Tony Roma’s photos since I live vicariously through you but then I saw your hand and winced. Yikes! That looks really painful. I remember Art telling me a similar story about a worker of his who got scratched on his arm (by his cat) and how it got badly infected. I am so sorry. I hope it heals really quickly. Lots of rest now.

I hope you get better soon! That’s some good advice from DrumMajor, I’ll remember that if I ever have to take antibiotics.
BTW, the meat falls off the bones because they boil it first. Some will say it’s not real ribs because of that, but I’m not that picky.

I keep telling my granddaughter that her “baby kitty” often bites her because he doesn’t want her to pick him up or something and he bites her. I also tell her she might get an infection from the bites…so I showed her mother this picture of your hand. She said, “I bet her cat goes outside.” Baby Kitty doesn’t. I don’t know enough about cats to understand what difference that makes.
Anyway, I enjoyed the post. Came here from Kays.

Yes, this cat stays outdoors and got hurt outside. He is normally very tame and gentle. I guess I should have picked him up by the scruff of his neck so he would go limp. Lesson learned.

I frequent the Tony Roma’s in Roppongi, loooooove their hot fudge brownie sundae!
Youch! Your poor paw! Watch out for *cat scratch fever* ! “You know you got it when you’re goin’ insane!” LOL

Just a thought on kitty, one of ours had a puncture wound on a paw that got puss in last year. I was dreading a vet bill, so for a few days I tried a cotton bud soaked in peroxide on it, followed with neosporin. Well it worked and I cleared up the infection myself.
So if you can see the problem and get kitty to let you tend to it, I would recommend this highly.
