Family reunion – 2009

There were eight of us dining at this table last night.  Note the chopsticks, dinner fork, and dessert fork.  We were going to have Chinese cuisine!  Well, guess what, seven of us used the chopsticks, while David was the only one using the dinner fork!  So haole!

Before David’s brother (Michael), his wife (Shirley), and daughters (Amanda and Victoria) arrived, Julia played with her toy pots and pans, which meant she didn’t irk me by taking my pots out of the kitchen cupboards.  Pretty cool invention!

On one side of the table sat Maria, Julia, Grant, and Shirley.

On the other side were Victoria, Amanda, Michael, and David.  See the resemblance between the two brothers!  Mike is the elder of the two.

We sang “Happy Birthday” to Maria.

Julia blew out the candles.

Lisa arrived late and helped herself to the buffet.

Julia (who is 21 months old) does Yoga.  Here she is doing “Downward Dog.”

Julia – about to do “Warrior Two.”

Maria turned 31 this month.  She made two surprising announcements.  First, she was promoted to Chairman of the Math Department at her high school.  The second announcement was also great news, but she does not want it publicized on my blog…yet.  We congratulated her and wished her only the best.  She is such a special person.  I am very proud to be her mother.

We all had a good time last night and will be seeing Mike, et al., next Saturday for dinner at Assaggio’s.  And then, they will return to their lives in Massachusetts.
