Quilly and me at Kincaid’s.
Some of you might remember my party in October, to which I had invited some blogger friends (http://gigihawaii.wordpress.com/2009/10/18/bloggers-party-on-sunday/). Two of them, Quilly and Amoeba, called to say that they had car trouble and therefore could not attend. Well, it’s November and Quilly and I finally got to meet each other for lunch today at my favorite haunt, Kincaid’s in Ward Warehouse. I chose Kincaid’s because it not only has a great view of Kakaako harbor and pretty good grinds, but it also is very quiet, even with a full house. We could carry on a decent conversation.
Quilly should write a memoir. Nothing about her is shallow; she is incredibly deep. Read her blog (http://quilldancer.com/) and you will learn about her months as a homeless person on the mainland, about her close brush with death when a speeding truck almost hit her car broadside, and about her wonderful relationship with Amoeba, who is a scientist. You will shed a tear, but, yes, chuckle, too.
Sadly, she and Amoeba will bid Hawaii farewell in mid-January. They are moving to Washington state, where Amoeba has accepted a position at the University of Washington. I hope they leave with fond memories of our island state and will keep in touch with us.
Aloha and mahalo, Quilly!

I’m so happy you two had a great time! Sounds like Quilly really has had some pretty darn incredible adventures and come out of them wise and serene with a ton of stories to tell. I’m happy for her that she gets to move to Washington state. It’s so beautiful there. I see from the photo that she’s got a huge lens on her camera. She does take the most amazing photographs for her blog.

Yes, I am encouraging Quilly to publish a coffee table book of her many photographs. Hopefully, that will happen in the near future.

Well, Gigi, Amoeba has joined your team and certainly thinks I should query out those publishing houses you sent me (I kept the email) and see what they think.
I think you have written a wonderful post and made me seem much more special than I actually am. Thank you. I am humbled.
I had a wonderful time at lunch and you are just a sweet in person as you are on your blog. I am so glad we finally had a chance to meet!
On a side note: I found my Visa right where I knew it would be — in the laundry hamper! And, ironically, the Master Card I used to pay for my lunch is financed by my blog, so I paid for my blogger-meeting lunch with blog earned money! That seems as it should be, don’t you think?

Yes, Quilly! And think of the royalties from your soon-to-be published book! I’ll expect an autographed copy from you.

[...] I have been super busy, but it has been a fun sort of busy. On Wednesday I met Gigi at Kincaid’s on the third floor of Ward Warehouse, a really fun mall, which is downtown and has a lovely view of Kakaako Marina. (Gigi’s blog post about our lunch is here: Lunch With Quilly). [...]
