Ocean House Restaurant

Ocean House is a restaurant, which opened at the newly renovated Outrigger Reef Hotel on Waikiki Beach.

David and I dined there last evening to celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary on Independence Day. (How ironic!)

Sunset on Waikiki Beach. There were throngs of people, anticipating the fireworks in the sky.

We started with a glass of Kenwood Brut sparkling wine. Although David preferred the Mumm’s Napa Valley sparkling wine at Romano’s last week, I thought the Kenwood was fine.

The French bread was warm and fresh.

David ordered the seafood chowder and asked the waiter to grind some black pepper on it.

Salad for me. The guava vinaigrette was sweet and not too tart. Great!

Angus prime rib, onion mashed potatoes, and peas for David. He regretted smearing so much horseradish on top of the meat, which was done medium rare, the way he requested.

I had the seafood linguine, which was covered with a lobster-mushroom cream sauce. This was sooo delicious! Yum! David helped me finish the noodles, as I was getting full.

The restaurant treated us to a complimentary dessert in honor of our anniversary. They served us strawberry sorbet on top of slices of puff pastry. An elegant touch to a splendid meal! So beautiful, so delicate!

Thank you, Ocean House, for the wonderful ambience, food, service, and memories! We’ll be back!

    Congrats Gigi and David –

Please tell us the story of how it came to be that you married on July 4th. I remember seeing your photos in a church, so it wouldn’t have been with a Justice of the Peace at a courthouse. I know some Hawaiians would like to not celebrate July 4th, considering we later stole the Islands to join the U.S. Somehow I don’t think you two were ignoring July 4th in defiance. I know, — you both were little firecrackers in your younger days, right?

    Congrats! DrumMajor

      DM,

Actually, our wedding and reception took place in late June. The reason we celebrated our 31st anniversary on the 4th is that we were just too busy last month. We’re flexible. Better to celebrate it late than never!

Happy Anniversary! That looks lovely. Did you stay for the fireworks? You would have gotten a laugh out of our measly Hilo fireworks display. It was even lamer than usual this year.
