Well, I feel ragged right now, having had just three hours of sleep. The previous night, I was lucky and slept for nearly eight hours, very unusual for me, as I normally sleep 4-5 hours. Don’t bother to tell me to go back to bed, because once I am up, I am up.
Yesterday, David went to Costco and purchased a small 2 inch bottle of Testosterone from the pharmacy. Unbelievably, that small vial cost $60, not covered by insurance. The syringes and needles, however, might be covered, we’ll see. David will be getting 12 injections from that vial. He has an appointment with his urologist in March, when he will have a blood test to see what his testosterone level is. If it is still low, the doctor will increase the dose.
Over the past week, my husband has been complaining about his knees, which hurt when he stands and walks. He has been taking Glucosamine every day for the pain, but it doesn’t seem to be working. My sister-in-law, who is a pharmacist, told David to be careful, because too much Glucosamine can lead to a build-up of uric acid, which will result in gout.
So, what is the alternative? David really should see an orthopedist as soon as possible. Hopefully, he won’t need surgery and the problem can be fixed with physical therapy or a new drug regimen.
I just want my husband to be healthy and happy. Is that too much to ask?

I have arthritis. It affects my joints. My right thumb hurts the most, and my lower back. The knees are OK now, knock on wood. David might have arthritis. My David gets shots in his knees for the arthritis. Dianne
PS All the movies I listed are oldies. We don’t watch movies at all these days.

Hope David does well with his testosterone treatment. Since you first wrote about David’s low testosterone, I told my husband he should have his testosterone levels checked since he fractures easily (several rib fractures once from exerting pressure snapping a Tike playground set together and another time just getting banged from a child’s head in play). Sadly, the older we get the more things seem to go wrong. Best to remind ourselves we must enjoy life while we still can.

I can relate. I am one of those 4 to 5 hours sleepers also. Eight hours is cause for celebration.
I did not know about that relationship between Glucosamine and gout. Yikes. I havve taken it every day for years, though lately it has been less effective.
Hope David finds some relief.

No, it’s not too much to ask. Hope he finds good health soon.
Thanks for reminding me of your post of yesterday. I wrote more than I should there but history and government is such a favorite subject of mine and I could write a book on it. Ummmm maybe i should…… No too many already.

best wishes to David, Gigi…life is like that. I’m passing on your glucosamine warning to my husband, he takes it for his knees and they help him…didn’t hear about gout.

The best thing you can do for arthritic knees is to lose weight, and then keep moving! I know this from personal experience.

Health is the most important thing we can have. We only find out about this when we are in danger of losing it.
Best of luck to your husband.
PS I was unable to reach your blog from mine, I have come via somebody else’s blog where you left a comment.

Hello!
Thanks for visiting my blog!
I’ve read several of yours but had to stop and comment here. I have terrific knee pain, due to arthritis. For several years I got relief from injections, but finally had a partial knee replacement last summer. I’m still battling painful movement, especially going down steps. I’m working on losing weight, as I know from past experience that it helps my knees. Have your husband see an orthopedic doctor.
