Ala Moana Boulevard, Honolulu.
Well, I completed my passport application online and printed it. I stapled my photo to the application. The more I look at my picture the more I hate it. Ew. Horrible! My face has changed drastically since my old passport photo was taken ten years ago, as has my signature. I sure hope the government accepts my application and sends me a new passport without hesitation!
The one good thing about my photo is that my hair still looks black. I don’t know why this is, as there are quite a few white strands on the top of my head. But, hey, I am not complaining! Lol.
After David completes his application, we will mail them certified to the government in padded envelopes (as requested by the government). In addition to the application, we must also include our old passport and a personal check. The price of a passport book is $110 plus $60 for expedited service, totaling $170 per person or $340 for both of us. Pricey!
If all goes well, we will receive our passport books within two weeks after mailing our applications. Woo-hoo!

Interesting process. I went to a post office to have mine done. They weren’t asking for the old passport or a padded envelope then. Hopefully you’ll get it within 2 weeks; might be longer. DrumMajor

You don’t have to colour your hair? I’ve had to colour mine since I was about 40. And you are so pretty anyway…nothing to worry about!

I’ll probably let it go white. It’s a pretty color!

I just replaced my old passport, too. I didn’t use the expedite service because I didn’t need to get it quickly, but I still got it within a month’s time. The new one has a chip embedded in it and is much stiffer than the old one, and it’s also filled with quotations and patriotic stuff, which surprised me.
I received my old passport in a separate envelope. I am pretty sure that last time it only cost me around $70. Ten years is a long time, though.

Good that you got your new passport within a month. I read that it usually takes 8-10 weeks!!! This is why we chose to expedite the process.

Thanks for reminding me that mine needs to be renewed in a year or so. I have a friend who is trying to get a passport for her stepson and it seems to be a very complex process because his mom, the custodial parent, has to produce notarized letters and sign off on everything. They keep running in to glitches in the process.
I hope your new one arrives quickly.

Thanks for posting about your passports. One day I have to get a passport (just to have when we travel to the states). My old one is no longer valid I’m sure.

Nothing is done through the post here anymore. Too many fraudulent cases in Inland Affairs. You have to queue for ages to get it done.

What an exciting adventure to have!!! I forgot how much getting a passport costs.

Whoa… that’s expensive. Thank goodness our passports are good until 2019!

Good grief, I have two old passports, one as me, the civilian, and an expired government passport I was afraid to use after a few planes were hijacked. We would have to start over with passports should we travel overseas again. Uck!! Dianne

We’re on our second passports, and they are good for quite a while yet. By the time they expire we will probably be done traveling anyway.

We got our passports within a month, without expediting them, but that was just before summer, if I remember right. I was surprised they came so quickly, as we’d been told it takes awhile. I didn’t know that Costco did the photos! Now I do!
Your trip sounds very exciting!
