Three seats in economy class

Fountains of Tivoli, Italy. 1969.

David and I have decided to purchase three seats in economy class instead of two seats in business class for our trip to China. The seat between us will be empty, which means there will be more room for us to spread out. This will be a big savings and is a decision we can live with. After all, we are not exactly rolling in dough! We will be told around mid-June the exact amount we will have to pay the travel agency. We expect the price to increase, not decrease, due to the cost of fuel.

I had a mini-crisis a while ago. The cursor on my computer froze. I rebooted, but still had no luck. David came home and immediately said that the mouse needed new batteries. I would never have guessed. Lol. “What will you do when I am dead?” asked my husband.

Well, I hope he lives a long time. Every time he complains about the need for surgery on his hands because of carpal tunnel syndrome and the need for injections on his knees and hips because of osteoarthritis, I give thanks that he doesn’t have cancer, heart disease, or diabetes. What he has isn’t terminal.

We are looking forward to Kay’s dinner party this weekend and the prospect of meeting her son, Jon, who was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Africa, as well as David’s former high school classmate, also named Dave. I plan to bake a blueberry dump cake, but if Costco is out of blueberries, I’ll go with plan B and bake a pudding cake.

When I asked Kay if she wanted us to be fashionably late, she said, “No, come at 6 when the barbecued meat is hot.” Yes, ma’am!

I would not think that Kay and Art would be the “fashionably late” kind of people. I am glad to hear that you will be meeting Jon. And I am sure the seat prices will increase, with gas prices going up so quickly.

It’s an inside joke, because they were 35 minutes late for my party last Sunday. Kay thought the party would start at 12 noon, when it actually started at 11:30. They arrived at 12:05 pm. Meanwhile, we thought they had forgotten about us completely. David telephoned them and I emailed Kay just before they knocked on my door. Lol.

Bought 3 seats instead of 2? wow.. the tickets must be cheap… anyway, this is what life is all about right? Enjoy yourself.. make yourself happy!

I know what you mean about David’s technical help. Our cable modem died and needs replacing, good thing M is around. I’m at the library because I had to sign in to Paint Party Friday…call me an addict!

Okay – so David’s going to put his feet in your lap, right? If he’s supposed to get knee injections, tell him to get it done! The knees will not get better by themselves. Otherwise, you should arrange a different travel partner to China. You have a whole blogful of folks ready to go in his place! (Not I though, no desire for touring China…just Hawaii.) DrumMajor

Yes, his first knee injection is on March 15. I just hope he doesn’t need knee and/or hip replacement surgery!!! If that happens, we might have to postpone our trip during his recuperation.

Make sure every leg of your air travel, to and from, guarantees 3 seats in a row/together. I’ve seen them change seat assignments as they desire at any time. Good luck, DrumMajor

Brilliant idea to buy three seats. Now you will have room to spread out. Have a nice feast at Kay’s party. Lucky you. Dianne

  7. Suzanne Says:

That is quite the costs savings. Wow! Good idea.

Baby steps Gigi, baby steps. The injections will probably work; don’t schedule surgery yet!

If he does what he’s supposed to do, like possibly resting (that means not working,) the day before or after the injections, possibly using some ice, probably going to PT like the doc schedules, he should have good results. If David “chooses” not to do what his doctor instructs, he will not have as good of a result.

Mean nurse, giving explicit information, DrumMajor

    Great idea!
Hope all works as you wish it to be!
It was mild here, but gray and next week it’s expected to be near freezing point again…

Glad you got your tickets and fun that you will be getting together with Kay

The three seats instead of two costlier ones makes a lot of sense. You will lose leg room but otherwise it will be very comfortable.
Dinner with Kay! Oh, we’ll need pics!
