Regarding Davids predicament I can understand. I have been through similar situations. My formula is shout back when shouted at. No boss has the right to shout/scream at an employee. This is a question of dignity and David should not take it lying down. May be David should have a chat with the owner and share his thoughts.

From my observation of top-level administrative changes at a university, new bosses don’t always have any awareness of or respect for the value of corporate memory and the individuals who were instrumental in moving an organization into prominence. Hope the new owner demands better management than David’s boss is currently delivering.
