Scenic Hawaii.
I saw my grandkids yesterday. Maria and Lisa took them to the duck pond in Kaneohe and then returned here to relax. I must say that Maria has the best job in the world, because as a high school math teacher, she gets two months off during the summer as well as weeks off in October, December, and March. All of this free time permits her to play with her children – so important when they are young.
When Maria was a teenager, she dreamed of becoming a pediatrician. I am glad she changed her mind and majored in mathematics, after scoring 710 in Math on her SAT. She began her teaching career in 2002 and was named department chairman a few years ago. Hurrah for Maria!
Someday, she and Grant will upgrade to a larger house. Meanwhile, they are grateful for what they already have. I can only hope that Lisa will have such a wonderful life after she graduates in three years.

Teaching is surely the best job out there. When I was at the cross roads however I was lured by the corporate career and now at times wish I’d chosen teaching line instead.
Mom was a professor at the local college and truly enjoyed life to the fullest! If we ever return to India my desire is to teach too.
The picture you’ve shared is so beautiful! Thank you!

How wonderful! So important to spend time with our kids. I know teachers have incredibly busy lives and deserve that down time during the summer.

That’s a very successful lady, I wish the other one well too. Why shouldn’t they both have great lives?

Teachers are underpaid for all they do but they really do have great holidays. How nice she chose a profession that fit well with family time.
You have every right to be proud and happy.

You are right to feel happy and proud. And I know her school’s administrators are thankful for her. I don’t think good math teachers are that plentiful. The numbers I saw reported a couple of years ago about how many math and science teachers were eligible for retirement in Mississippi public school districts were daunting.
