When emailed, this is what Kay said to clarify the above comment:

When you open only the top a crack, you get fresh air without the rain because the roof eaves keep the rain out. We did used to do that sometimes in Illinois where we had double hung. They cost more though. And actually, with double hung, I suppose you've got more metal parts, too.

Ahhhh... You must have insomnia, too! I'm going to try to go to sleep now though. I wonder why I'm up...

About the awning windows, my neighbor has them and likes them. The only problem I see is that it's got quite a bit of metal parts to it that can deteriorate. I wish we'd gotten more sliding windows that don't have metal parts that can malfunction. Art also wishes we'd gotten double hung instead of single hung so that we could have left the top open so the rain doesn't come in. OK... I'm going to try to go to sleep now.

Gigi and Mr. Gigi -- What a fun chat. "OH WOW!" is my response to Toyota putting Michelins on for original equipment! I'm IMPRESSED. Unless Servco is using poopy valve stems, those tires rarely let out air. You DO need to rotate them every 6,000 to keep that tread evenly wearing. Michelins are GREAT stopping on wet pavement and getting through snow.....oh yeah, you're in paradise....they probably do well in the sand....I'm saving the auto service recommendation....the Gigis should get a referral bonus. DrumMajor

At last night's meeting, nothing about faulty brakes was mentioned. The speaker just spoke about the floor mats. He told us to remove the mat on the driver's side, as it could get stuck under the gas pedal.

And Dobbs Ferry Dude does live in Honolulu. I emailed him your comment.

M (see his comment above) is also a mechanic.
