Hyundai Accent

This is my trusty Hyundai Accent, which I purchased in Nov. 2002 for $14,000.  The odometer shows I have driven 19,889 miles as of Sept. 2, 2009.  I have never had to repair the engine for any reason.

If I had to give a downside to the car, I would have to say that the metal is soft, denting very easily.  A few years ago in the Daiei parking lot, someone opened his or her car door and rammed it into mine, denting it.  I never bothered to get it fixed, as my ego is not wrapped up in this car.  After all, whom am I trying to impress?  So, the dent remains on the right front passenger door.  If you look closely at the photo, you’ll notice it on the horizontal strip below the handle.

Over the years, I have owned or driven many cars, but the Hyundai Accent is the best of the lot.  It hasn’t stalled on the freeway like the Dodge Spirit did.  And being a sub-compact, it fits my body like a glove.  I now sit a comfortable distance from the steering wheel, and don’t have to strain to reach the gas pedal with my foot.  The bucket seats are very soft and plush.  The air conditioning is just as cold as the day I bought the car, and the brakes have not had to be changed.

There is a ten year or 100,000 mile warranty on the car.  I think my next car will be an electric one.

Wow, less than 20K miles in 7 years of use?

When you do get your electrik car and sell this Hyundai, I’d bet someone will be very appreciative getting it on the cheap with such low milage. These are the type of cars parents would be looking for their kids

Lucky you! We loved both our Camrys. Now we’re driving our Honda Odyssey which we used to only use for car pools and visiting tourists. We still don’t have the Prius we ordered. They have no idea when it’s going to come in. Really, really frustrating.

We bought an ’08 Hyundai Santa Fe in January ’09 and so far have driven 7000+ trouble free miles. Knock on wood…we are happy with the car, more than our ’02 Toyota 4-runner.
    How’s your diet going?
