Prepping for a Christmas party

I was hoping for sunshine and dry conditions on Christmas, but the weatherman forecasts rain and a high of 80 degrees, which means the temperature will be in the 70s most of the day.  Shoots!  I suppose my guests will have to bring in their footwear so they won’t get wet outside.  (Yes, people walk barefoot indoors in Hawaii.)  It also means we won’t have to turn on the air conditioners.  Hope there’s a nice breeze, instead.

My Christmas luncheon is shaping up very nicely.  The party kicks off at noon, and David will be picking up some Chinese food from our favorite take-out, Liliha Seafood Restaurant.  Although there will be 15 adults and 1 toddler, I am ordering just 4 dishes:  Shrimp Ala Canton, Crispy Gau Gee with Chow Mein, Chicken with Black Bean Sauce, and Tofu with Vegetables.  I plan to cook a pot of brown rice.  My sisters will also bring some food, so there will be a lot to eat, no worry!

Three strangers were invited by my sister and niece, because “they have nowhere else to go.”  That’s fine with me.  But, it’s sad that I felt the need to exclude R, who, as I discussed before, wears smelly Ben Gay.  R called me last week to wish me a Merry Christmas.  There was a plaintive tone in his voice, and I know he was wondering why I had not invited him this year.  His girlfriend (David’s deceased sister) would have wanted him to be invited, but, as I said, I can’t bear the odor of his Ben Gay.

Ah, well.  Let’s avoid the drama and focus on having a wonderful time with my family.  I hope y’all have a GOOD ONE!  Aloha.

    Yo Gigi —

Enjoy your wet weather and no air conditioners…our wet weather consists of some ice and possibly 3-6 inches of snow for K.C., with humidifiers in coordination with the drying furnace heat for indoors.

If I could just send you some snow….

    Merry Christmas! DrumMajor

We’re having our party on Christmas Night because my sister-in-law and niece both have to work on Christmas Eve. Have a really fun day tomorrow! I love the cooler temperatures! Amoeba is playing trumpet in both the Christmas Eve services at church. I am reading scripture at the second service. Tomorrow we are enjoying a quiet day for just the two of us. Our meal will be modest but yummy. We’re grilling ahi steaks.
