Christmas Party – 2009

Christmas at Gigi’s place.  Here is the Chung clan.  The matriarch, age 93, is seated in the middle.

Gigi’s family:  Lisa, Grant, me, and David.  Seated:  Maria and little Julia (age 2).  David looks like the Incredible Hulk.

Four generations:  My mother, Maria, Julia (named after my mother), and me.

Delicious canapes, made by my sister, Sylvia.

Julia fished for penguins that revolved in a circle.  She got one!  Great eye-hand coordination.

The spread…

…and we helped ourselves to the buffet.  Informal dining at its best.

The cousins sat in the living room…

…while the older generation sat in the family room.

Desserts:  Key Lime Pie (made by Sylvia, who also is the chef/owner of ‘Licious Dishes) and Cupcakes (bought by Pat from Cake Couture in Aina Haina).

Pat brought favors for everyone.  The bags contained chocolate candies and other goodies.

My mom won a door prize:  Pancake mix.  (Brought by Pat.)

Lisa won the other door prize:  Granola.  (Also brought by Pat.)

The cousins competed on the Wii for a winner-take-all prize of $60.

Target Shoot.

My son-in-law, Grant, won the $60 prize!  Not bad for just 30 minutes of work!

And then we said our good-byes.  Until next year, aloooooha!

It looks like you had a grand time! Julia was tuckered out at the end.

We were invited several places for Christmas, but we told everybody we had other plans. We did. We planned to stay home and enjoy a quiet day alone. And we did! I made ahi steaks, steamed broccoli and rice pilaf for dinner. There is a lovely chocolate cake cooling on the counter which I will frost as soon as it cools, and then serve with ice cream. Just now we are getting ready to snack on the cheese and sausage Amoeba’s momma sent us for Christmas.

next time make it prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and make it based on a combination score of 2 rounds or something. Even grant said it wasn’t fair because he got more practice than everyone by playing straight through. Plus everyone lost interest when they lost the one time. but hey, i’m not complaining..he got me spending money =)

Wonderful family photos, gigi! Your mom looks great. I can hardly believe she is 93, for she is still looking much younger. My mom was 94 when she passed away nine years ago. Have a great week!
