Vehicles being recalled

David’s 2010 Toyota Camry.

Here’s a list of automobile companies that are recalling certain vehicles:

• Toyota recalling 2.3 million more cars over stuck accelerator
• Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep recalling over 24,000 cars
• Hyundai recalling 65,000 cars over air bags
• Corvettes being recalled over roofs that can blow off
• GM recalling nearly 60,000 vehicles over defrost system
• Volvo recalling 136,000 vehicles over possible fuel leak
• Toyota may shorten accelerator pedals in recalled cars
• 161,450 Jeeps recalled over fire hazard
• Toyota will fix accelerators on up to 4 million cars, report says

Pretty scary, huh?

I am very upset that David purchased his 2010 Toyota Camry only weeks before the recall was publicized.  And, we still have not received a letter from Toyota, advising us to bring the car in for repair!  Auwe!  How long will it take before David gets into an accident due to a stuck accelerator?  Man, that makes me mad!

Fortunately, my 2002 Hyundai Accent has never been recalled.  I have never had to take it in to the dealer for repair, either.  Knock on wood.  David says we bought the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty for nothing, especially since I don’t drive the car every day.  Right now, there’s a little more than 20,000 miles on the car, so naturally it’s in great shape.  I love my sub-compact.

I hope David’s car gets fixed soon.  He’s not worried, but I am.  All I need now is a husband who’s paralyzed from the neck down, in a coma, or worst, dead!

We refuse to buy American made cars and have had such good luck with foreign made cars. This makes me wonder.

I have had absolutely no problem with my car. It is great!! As for the accelrator pedal it seems to be a problem with the part wearing out prematurely. This part has been used for at least four years and only now the problem is coming to light. I expect that my car will be fixed long before I could have a problem.

Mr. Gigi, I am glad to hear that. If your accelerator gets stuck, slam on the brakes anyway and put the car in neutral!

I haven’t heard anything about the Prius yet but I’m waiting. I sure hope they get it all sorted out quickly. I have always loved the Camry. We’ve had two of them and they were both great. My son has been really putting on a LOT of miles onto our 2nd one which is at least 10 years old now and it’s doing great. I’ll keep my fingers crossed. We’ve got that Toyota new buyer dinner to attend in February. I’ll defnitely be asking about that recall thing.

My lil’ Miss Ruby is an old lady (like moi) but loyal and seems safe.

I see all the recalls and wonder why anyone buys a new car.

Oh Gigi don’t even say it! I think this is very scary myself, I mean these are brand new cars!

  7. Hattie Says:

My old Volvo got a stuck accelerator on the freeway once. There was nowhere to pull off, so I could not turn off the engine until I was off the freeway, and it kept accelerating and accelerating. Scary.
