India: David rides a camel

We were on the way to Agra, when the group stopped the bus and went to see the back side of the Taj Mahal across the water:

Then, Victor, our Indian tour guide, asked if anyone wanted to ride a camel for $2.00.  David said, “Sure, why not?”

The poor camel was having lunch and was a little annoyed when he was told to stand up to please a customer:

David said, “Now, I don’t need to go to Egypt to ride a camel.”

P.S.  Victor, our Indian tour guide, took most of the photos of David.  Thanks, Victor!  Al Rho, a tour member, sent me the photo of David getting on the camel.  Thanks, Al!

How very sporting of David what with bad knees and all!! Tell you what Gigi, you all are surely living it up in India – I have lived here for 25 years but never had either an elephant ride or a camel ride!! Today is the festival of Lights, Diwali. Wish you and David a very Happy Diwali 🙂

This is not exactly on MY bucket list, either. My dad rode one long ago and it tried to bite him! 🙂

It doesn’t look like the most comfortable ride, but fun and unique nevertheless. I’m glad you got such good pictures.

I worked at a school where they had a General Oversight Committee with the mission of covering all the odds and ends not covered by others. Anyway, it was popularly known, with a smile, as the Camel Committee. This was a play on words borrowed the old joke that the apparently ungainly camel is actually a horse put together by a committee.

I have often heard that camels are vicious, glad david was not bitten. Was it very smoggy near the Taj Mahal?
