Ring in the new year!

hanauma bay 011-A

View of Hanauma Bay.  One of these days, we will snorkel there again.  I love gazing at the beautiful, colorful fish as I float on the water.

Yesterday, we awoke to rain and cloudy skies, which meant no snorkeling for us.  However, we got to turn off the lawn sprinklers, thereby saving money.  We had a terrific breakfast, consisting of a sausage, mushroom, and spinach omelet and two slices of buttered wheat toast.  Shanna’s homemade tangerine marmalade hit the spot.  That woman is so creative.  I’ll never forget the papaya ice cream she made with papayas picked from her yard.  Incredibly delicious!

Tonight is New Year’s Eve.  I plan to broil New York steaks and make Dianne’s potato salad.  We’ll wash it all down with the Italian champagne that Pete left us.  No fireworks for us, though our neighbors will probably burn a bundle.  We’ll close all the windows to keep the smoke out.

Looking back on 2012, I recall major health issues for both David and me, involving several surgeries and trips to the ER, once by ambulance.  Yup, his medical bills far exceeded mine.  We intend to deduct the medical expenses from our taxes, if possible.  As an accountant, my husband is pretty resourceful when it comes to reducing our tax burden!

But, it was our grand two week trip to India that overshadowed everything we did in 2012.  If you have been following my blog, you’ll know what I mean.

Goodbye 2012.  Hello 2013.  Ring in the new year!

Good luck in the New Year. We had our family gathering on Saturday and you know it cheered me up. David and I met granddaughter Hannah’s new boy friend Hugo who hails from Guadalahara Mexico. Nice boy and really cute. She will be 24 in September. He asked her to marry him, but we shall see. Dianne
