This guy loves to argue

Scenic Hawaii 015-A

Some people just love to argue.  One guy, who read yesterday’s post, typed TOKYO in the search bar and read about our trip to Tokyo in 2008.  He couldn’t believe that we spent $3,000 on a 3 night 4 day trip.  He said that for a little more money, we could have seen more cities for a longer period of time.

I replied that for $1,500 per person, we saw a lot in 4 days.  For example, one tourist we know has visited Japan numerous times, but still has not gone up to the observatory in the Tokyo Tower, experienced a Shinto tea ceremony, or cruised on the Sumida River.  We have!

Besides, $1,500 per person is all we wanted to spend.  That covered air fare, hotel, transfers, taxi, food, and an all day tour of the city.

As far as travel goes, the sky is the limit.  People can spend a zillion dollars if they are not careful.  You have to stick to a budget and then tailor your trip around it.

As I said, this guy loves to argue.  When I happened to mention that I now avoid raw food like salads because of my gastrointestinal problems, he said he eats a salad every day and has no problem.  Well, I am one of those colitis patients who try to avoid bacteria and parasites, if at all possible.  I just prefer cooked veggies, that’s all.

Blah, blah, blah…

People love whatever appeals to them, but it doesn’t mean it appeals to everyone. That’s okay. I think we all have to work harder to respect the differences of each other. I love many things that other people hate. Whatever. It doesn’t mean one is right and one is wrong or that we need to persuade anyone to our way of thinking. Whatever you do works for you–great. He can do whatever he wants and that is great too. It is the judgmental part that turns off people.

You always seem to have a lot of thought and reasoning behind your decisions. I don’t think another travelers opinion is going to change your mind,

A lot of people in this world look for arguments. They like that energy. Not for me.

Everyone is allowed to think their way is how I see it, and your way sounds perfect, you pay for what you get.

You have a small business Gigi? Your comment about the coke size made me laugh out loud today!

What you get out of your travels is yours. Only you can tell if the cost and time were worth it.

Each of us experiences life in ways no one else can experience. Dianne

    Hello Gigi
    Theres an old saying:-
You can’t please everybody all of the time – just some of them some of the time
Sounds like this applies to your ‘friend’ – argumentative old bugger as he was lol
    Take care
    Cathy

Gigi, you should not have to justify anything you do, especially to someone who DOES NOT pay your bills. What baffles me the most is not the desire to argue this person has but the audacity to feel he has the right to tell you what’s best for you.

I will have to go back and read your Tokyo trips. It seems evident your more recent travel posts that you are savvy travelers and do a great job of tailoring your trips to fit your needs, interests and fiscal comfort level.

Ditto Dianne’s comment. Some people cannot fathom the value of experiences and perspectives other than their own.
