Dish crawl

lindas bowl 003-A

My fruit salad, served in a bowl I purchased from blogger Linda Starr.

I checked the Wednesday newspaper for news about a cooking class, but unfortunately none was mentioned.  Instead, I found two announcements:

(1)    Dish Crawl:  People who sign up for this are escorted to a set number of restaurants, where they sample food.  Sounds like fun, but I am not sure I want to brave the rain between restaurants (if it does rain, that is)!

(2)    Banana menu:  For a fundraiser, a restaurant is offering a set menu, which features banana soup, banana curry, and sweetened banana.  I think this is too much banana for my taste buds, so no thanks!

Does any of the above interest you?  I’ll check next Wednesday’s newspaper for further announcements.  Hopefully, there is a chef out there who wants to show me how to cook.

Very nice looking fruit salad in that bowl! Not sure I would want to wash it, with all those curly bits. 🙂

I’ve heard of dishcrawl and it can be a lot of fun, very social experience I think. It’s not for introverts like me!

The restaurant should serve the banana menu on a full fledged banana leaf – Indian style.

Beautiful bowl! I might like a dish crawl. When I am hungry though I tend to like to sit down and eat until I am full, so not 100% sure it is my thing.

Dish crawl sounds exciting. Hope you find a chef to teach you, but do you really need one? You are a good cook .

I recognize the green peas and Mandarin oranges, but what are the white things? … white peas, a type of noodle, weird water chesnuts?? Dianne

Not to sound like a commercial but – I did one of the 1st Dish Crawls and it was a lot of fun and we got to sample foods from restaurants that I either didn’t know about or hadn’t had a chance to try. I am not a particularly social person but the group was nice and easy to socialize with (ymmv) and the host Papiloa did a very nice job engaging everyone and working with the restaurants. I plan to go back to all 4 of the restaurants we visited and will certainly do a Dish Crawl again!

It really is a good opportunity to get out and try something new and I would be surprised if you didn’t enjoy it!

This is good to know. Glad you had such a great experience. So, did you travel to the 4 restaurants in your own car or by chartered bus or on foot?

I’m not taken by either of those offers either. Besides, you are looking for opportunities for cooking, not eating!

  9. Kay's Musings Says:

Ummm… I think I’ll take a pass on those offerings.

I fancy the dish crawl. First round your house and second at mine!
