Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo 001-A

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo at my sister Sylvia’s restaurant, Greens & Vines, in Honolulu.  We started with a delicious Tangerine Spritzer, which consisted of tangerine and sparkling water.

Cinco de Mayo 002-A

This was my all-vegan plate, which I took from the buffet.  My favorite items were the Mango Salsa and the Spanish Rice.

Cinco de Mayo 007-A

This was David’s plate from the buffet.  He especially enjoyed the Bosc Pear.

Cinco de Mayo 026-A

These were the desserts:  “cheese” cake and chocolate truffles.

Cinco de Mayo 008-A

This is my younger sister, Sylvia, owner of Greens & Vines, an all-vegan restaurant.

Cinco de Mayo 009-A

Sylvia looks for a bottle of wine in her wine cellar.  David ordered a Sake and I ordered a glass of Prosecco (Italian champagne).

Cinco de Mayo 025-A

This is the band, performing Spanish jazz.  We absolutely loved the music.

Cinco de Mayo 005-A

Finally, here are the two love birds, Gigi and David.  Did we have a wonderful time?  You betcha!

She looks like such a good, healthy cook. Wonderful! Everything I make that tastes good has butter or cheese in it.

Food looks scrumptious. Your sister is very pretty. I’m happy to hear you had a great time.

My DIL Wendy celebrated Cinco de Mayo in a marathon run in San Diego. Fortunately, no bombers attended. Two holidays i like: Cinco de Mayo and Dia de la Muerte (Halloween). Great fun, and both date back to Pagan festivals in Europe (Beltane and Samhain). Dianne

I was at a restaurant with a mariachi band where the trumpet was overpoweringly loud when they got close to the patrons as they went from table to table. The trumpeter solved it by turning around and playing in the opposite direction. It worked fine.

Looks like some new recipes at Greens and Vines. I liked it there, but the vegan philosophy is too strict for me.

I made taco salads for our Cinco de Mayo dinner- definitely not vegan.
I’m glad you had such a lovely dinner, and a good time.
