I posted my ad on Craigslist Sunday afternoon and within a few minutes someone called to inquire about our rental unit.  I was amazed.

A few minutes later, I received a call from someone else.

Those were the only two calls I got that day.  I asked each person a few questions.  The first caller seemed to have the better job and would have no trouble paying the rent on time.  The second caller would need his girlfriend to split the rent.

I googled the first caller’s name and was able to verify his name and occupation.  Since he works for the federal government, we knew he had to pass their scrutiny.

Monday morning, David phoned the caller’s previous landlady and learned that he had been a good tenant there.  David then called the first caller and made an appointment for him to see the unit after work.

Long story short, the first caller came to our home and showed us his picture ID and recent letter from the federal government, stating his annual salary and COLA (cost of living allowance).  He saw the rental unit and liked it so much, he paid us cash for the security deposit and prorated rent for June.  I gave him a receipt.  He also signed our Rental Agreement and Inventory of major items inside the unit. He will move in this weekend.

After he left, I deleted my ad from Craigslist.  I had posted the ad on Sunday afternoon and by Monday afternoon, we had a tenant.


I won’t reveal his name for obvious reasons.

    What great news and such a fast turnaround and it does show that your hard word and attention to detail also in who you would rent to has paid off nicely for yiu and David. And know you are glad that is all settled now.

    Seems too good to be true to happen that quickly – obviously all your little ducks were in correct order on the row lol. Your tenant definitely ticks all the boxes – lol at Grannie Annie and the book.
    Linda mentioned the same thought I had – is there a shortage of single accommodation available at the right priced rent?
