Lunch with Lynette and Tosh

On Wednesday, David and I had a lovely Italian lunch with my friend, Lynette, and her husband, Tosh, at Assaggio’s in Ala Moana Center.

This is the pretty water fountain and sculpture fronting Assaggio’s:

I have known Lynette since first grade at Manoa Elementary School.  We were neighbors until we graduated from high school.  She and her family now reside in California.  Whenever she visits Hawaii, she always calls me up and we meet each other for lunch or dinner.

We conversed about many things, such as the drought in California, the market values of homes in Hawaii and California, their trip to Italy, and her recipe for Tiramisu, an Italian dessert.

This is the Tiramisu Lynette ordered at Assaggio’s.  She said it tasted good, but her homemade Tiramisu was better:

We all had a nice time, and we plan to meet again next weekend with other friends.

It’s good to get together with old friends isn’t it Gigi – you can pick up the conversation as though you had just seen each other the day before.
I wonder if your friend would be willing to share her recipe?

That tiramisu is well presented, even if hers is better it’s almost always good. 🙂

California friends, heh? Nice. Maybe YOU can come visit them some day. If they are close enough, maybe we could even meet up if you come this way.

How wonderful that you met up with an old school friend. Such fun and the Tiramisu looked delicious. I have been meaning to make one of those for a friend of mine. Next time she comes over for dinner I will surprise her as it is her favorite dessert.

We go to the beach in Washington state most of the friends are from Kindergarten can you imagine? we are motly crew of couples, widows and widowers at only 67 all of us, we cling like a tribe, we eat food from the sea and talk until late into the morning..Most have huge motorhomes that are more like homes and sometimes we get to sleep in them, the one cabin is a wonderful place, no tv or radios everyone brings their cell-phones, blackberry thingies, we don’t own either, the owner is my bestie from 3rd grade and her late hubs was the fellow we always played softball in the park across from our home, we have a ball..I think knowing people for many years forms a tribe of friends and a family in the neatest and loveliest way(s) possible, we are on this terrestrial for a short while why not love and extend peace to each other? I lived in California for years, it always had sun and the sea and water, it was hot all the time but now I could not live there no water whatsoever and homes are nearly $500,000 for homes built in 1j948 the year I was born and no jobs whatsoever..goodness sakes alive, aloha to you and peace!
