A bonanza

john dominis-2-A

David and I at a restaurant in Honolulu (2009).

Our tenant has informed us that he will be returning to the mainland at the end of November. David and I have been debating whether or not to advertise the vacancy on Craigslist after he leaves.

The trouble is that we consider the ideal tenant to be one who does not socialize that often. But, where would we find such a tenant? Most people have friends or relatives they might want to entertain in their room or the patio. We just don’t like the noise and wear and tear on the carpet, furniture, and appliances. Not to mention the consumption of more electricity and water.

Anyway, once our tenant leaves, we will have access to the extra bathroom, and we consider that a bonanza.

I think you should take this opportunity to take the space back. I think you would love all the extra room, not to mention that bathroom. 🙂

I want to sell the house next door that was my late mother in law’s house, but Terry wants to hold on to it for now. To me it’s just a pain.

It is a sign from above to keep your home private..Most people are not like your currant tenant..I would never advertise on Craigs list there are so many unsavory people scanning that site to con people out of everything and it is dangerous to boot..You should bite the bullet and keep your home just for you two, surely you can afford that in your retirement years, privacy is sacred to most people a little money NOT SO MUCH, aloha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember that you made the decision to take that space back once already. Now you have the ideal opportunity. I think your current tenant was perhaps one in a million. You enjoy your home so much and I believe you will be happy with the extra room for your own use.

A dilemma. I will be waiting to see what you decide to do. GoodLuck.

well you did ask him to leave recently, so it looks like you want the space back!

If you can get by without the added income, DO. If not, I agree, advertise that you are looking for a quiet resident.

It’s nice to have that extra bathroom, but I guess it all comes down to how much it’s worth to you. P. S. I like Jason Day too … maybe he needs a place to stay on his way home to Australia?!?

You tried successfully to rent out your room. Now you have the chance to undo that move. Sounds like a win-win.
