Cash is king in a recession

Me, a long time ago.

David, a long time ago.

Time marches on, doesn’t it?  We are not as young as we used to be.

I have decided to conserve as much cash as possible. David always reminds me that “cash is king in a recession.”  Never mind real estate investments or stocks and bonds.

This means not going overboard with home renovations, art, and the latest gadgets. We have to make do with what we have.

There’s still an ongoing dispute between the Honolulu Board of Water Supply and the U.S. Navy regarding the leakage of jet fuel into our underground water. The Board is very concerned, but the Navy says there is no need for concern.  Who are we to believe?

I would say that the Board has our own best interests at heart, whereas the Navy does not. I believe the Board, not the Navy.

If the water does become contaminated with jet fuel, what will happen to us?

Reverse osmosis will be costly.

Moving to another island or to the mainland will also be expensive.

Hence the need to save!

I didn’t know anything about the water problem. I am with you, I would listen to the Board before the Navy.

  2. Joanne Noragon Says:

Another vote for the board. I think real estate is the hardest asset to convert to cash in any economy.

  3. SchmidleysScribblins Says:

I would believe the Navy. My son works with water issues on the U.S. Navy bases in the Southwest and he would say if there was a serious problem. If you had an oil issue you would know it, the smell is very strong.

  4. Christine Says:

Terrible about the water issues. Some tests should be done.

Cash is always king, the young people today don’t think so, but they are very young and have years to learn their lessons! The Navy should be held accountable for telling anyone of an oil spill anywhere, I say every person for themselves first forget the Navy! I would hate to be at the mercy of the presidential candidate Ben Carson he is definitely for himself above all others, not a good place to be as a presidential candidate..Hoping you will have no worries about your water..aloha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Tom Sightings Says:

We all take our water too much for granted. I hope that there’s nothing wrong; or if there is, that the Navy or whomever will step up and fix the problem. As for cash; yes it is king during a recession, but not necessarily at other times. Do you think we’re headed for another recession? Gee I hope not; we’ve barely gotten out of the last one!
