Restoring peace in my daily existence

Poinsettias at Home Depot (December 2017).

As I approach my 72nd birthday, I realize that the majority of my life is behind me and that I have a short future ahead of me.  God, if there is a God, did not put me on this earth to be miserable.  He gave me one life to enjoy to the fullest.

I saw my reflection the other day.  I looked obese, and I probably will continue to do so.  It really doesn’t bother me, because despite my obesity, I have never had cancer in my life, nor have I had a heart attack, stroke, diabetes, or renal failure, not to mention dementia.  So, I don’t worry about looking obese.  I am still alive and can still drive, cook, clean, and write a blog.

Fortunately, David refrains from criticizing me, and I refrain from criticizing him.  I am so glad nobody orders me around.

The other day, David said something sweet.  “With my love and support, you will live to 100.  I will be with you when you celebrate your 100th birthday.”

72 is still young. You have many years ahead of you. I hope they remain healthy years and that you can continue to do all the things you love. Once our grandchildren were born, I really started a healthier lifestyle because I want to see them grown and with children of their own. Grandchildren are great motivators.
