Instead of traveling abroad…

When I look back on my trip through Europe in 1969-1970, I regret staying in Munich for 1-1/2 months.  I should have stayed there for one week, then stay in Prague for one week, then Vienna for one week, then Copenhagen for one week, and finally Amsterdam for one week.  After that, fly directly to New York.  Now, it’s too late.  No way can I endure such an itinerary both physically and financially.

My last trip abroad was to Miami and Washington, D.C. in 2013.  I haven’t been on a plane since then.  I don’t think I ever will for various reasons.  It’s okay with me.  I really don’t care to see any new cities or countries.

Instead of traveling abroad, I prefer to invite people over for dinner, especially people from out of town.  I look forward to dining with my in-laws from Boston and my daughter from Las Vegas.  There will be nine of us at our table on January 17.  It’s always nice to break bread with people who are pleasant and compatible with us.

It is good that you travelled extensively in your youth.

I agree with you. Surround yourself with pleasant and enjoyable people and you will have a pleasant and enjoyable life.

You have had opportunities to travel so I don’t think you are missing out on anything. There are still a few trip I would like to take. I’d really like to take my grandchildren to Washington, D.C. for starters.
