“Do I really care?”

Sample of a newspaper in Hawaii.

Every time I read the newspaper I find myself saying, “Do I really care?”

Do I really care about Trump, Russia, sex allegations, murder, rape, robbery, lawsuits, war, religion, politics, economics?  Nope.  I shrug my shoulders and say, “So what?”  Then, I glance at the next headline.

But, now and then, I do see a headline that really interests me, and I find myself reading the entire story.

For instance, several days ago, I read an article that stated, “Omega-3 supplements have no benefit.  They do not prevent a heart attack or heart disease.”  It was based on a scientific study involving 78,000 people worldwide.  Well, I’ll be darned!  A friend of mine ate salmon every night for years, because salmon is full of Omega-3.  He recently had a heart attack and underwent open heart surgery.  He survived the surgery.  But, eating salmon every night for years did not help him at all.  Do you realize how BORING it is to eat salmon every night?  Now, it seems that even Omega-3 supplements have no benefit.

So, that’s what interests me:  News about science, astronomy, health, and medicine.

Not the other stuff.

I agree with you. You are so correct in paying attention to news that may have an impact on you. Too often the news is “so what”? It is news sure, but it has no effect on you

I am interested in the same things, I do take salmon oil pills oops.

We all have to die of something, sooner or later. Since heart disease is so prevalent in my family, I’ll continue to eat salmon and take my fish oil. 🙂

I go through periods of feeling I want to know what’s going on in the world and then periods where I just don’t want to know. I am generally more relaxed during the not knowing times.

Be careful about what you read.

I remember reading something years ago that mayonnaise is good for you because it has vitamin E. Also that margarine is much better for the health than butter.

Who knows what the truth is?

Yes we are being divided into millions of sub groups and pieces by politicians and media for their own benefits. What worries me the most is some super charismatic leaders like Mao, Stalin or Hitler might emerge later to “unite” the “majority” one day.

And I’m the opposite. I can’t understand why people aren’t setting their hair on fire because of some of the things Trump is doing and getting away with. 🙂 Of course, that would do no good and getting too involved with all of it causes anxiety. So you’re approach is probably better.

I don’t take fish oil pills, but my husband does. Wait till I tell him this. LOL He does have nice skin though. Maybe the Omega-3 helped with that.

I read the news online in the morning and within a half hour get ready to go and walk on the treadmill.
