I prefer to be called Mrs.

David 2nd day at Straub 013-A

This is my photo of David and his physical therapist after knee replacement surgery at Straub Medical Center in 2016.  The following photos show him convalescing at home.

It helps to be married.  Ever since I married David more than 37 years ago, I have never had to wash or vacuum my car.  He does it without being told, mind you.  I am so lucky.  What would I do without David?

Marriage has been mutually beneficial for us.  It hasn’t been one sided.

For instance, I was his caregiver after his many surgeries, picking him up at the hospital, feeding him, giving him his medications, giving him a fresh bath towel, and washing his laundry so he had clean clothes to wear.  I also drove him to and from his physical therapist’s office for weeks while he was taking narcotics for pain.  This year, he probably will have his seventh surgery, a cataract surgery on his right eye.  We are ready for it.

I don’t know why some women like being called Miss or Ms.  I prefer to be called Mrs.

What can I say. We don’t have much in the way of income or assets, but we have so much love for each other. Our love is our riches!

    You are very fortunate!
(I have never once in my life had anyone wash my car for me and I don’t foresee that ever happening, but I can’t complain about my life either.)

Even though my husband does all the cooking and cleaning, we married in our fifties and I’ve never been called Mrs. since I didn’t take another name. That is no reflection on my love for him. 🙂

    You are a good team

btw, I like to be called Aunty.

My spouse did nothing. If I had to earn all the money and mow the grass, I preferred to be called Divorced.

It does all even out, doesn’t it. A couple of years ago my husband and I both had health issues arise, luckily, not at the same time. We were able to take care of each other.

I just went to a new orthopedic surgeon today about my severely arthritic knees. I could have fallen off the chair when he asked me if I wanted to schedule surgery instead of a steroid shot. For years I have been trying to lose enough weight for knee surgery. I was told to lose weight (a lot) before the surgery. The amount of weight loss was quite different with each surgeon. One said that I should have weight loss surgery, and that he had the name of a bariatric surgeon for me. I don’t want weight loss surgery, so I have been struggling to lose enough weight on my own. I recently started going to a different primary care doctor and asked him for a recommendation for an orthopedic surgeon. He recommended the one I went to today.

I couldn’t believe the Orthopedist immediately suggested I have surgery. Other surgeons have been so different. He thought I would do fine even at my current weight. I have not set the date of the surgery yet, but will before the end of this week. I’m scared of the surgery, but terrified of the pain and disability of not having it. So I will have it.

I hope your husband’s knee will have an excellent recovery, and he will be as comfortable as possible during his recovery. Good luck with all of the new things that you will be doing around the house and with the car.

Sorry, I have so much on my mind right now, that I didn’t read that his knee surgery had been in 2016 until I went back to look at his knee pictures again. I’m glad he had an excellent recovery!

Oh my! When I saw the knee surgery I was overwhelmed. I hear about it but have never seen the scar/stitches etc. Yikes. That had to be tough.

This is such a sweet, special post, Gigi. Isn’t it wonderful how we rely on each other? You’re lucky he’ll clean the car!

Thanks for coming over and sending happy birthday greetings to our Baby Grand on his first! We love him to bits!
