Lisa is looking for the ideal car

cars 003-A

These are two cars parked in our garage.  I own the blue 2016 Hyundai Accent, and David owns the grey 2010 Toyota Camry.

My daughter Lisa calls us up on a monthly basis.  During her last call on Mother’s Day, she mentioned she wants to get rid of her old Nissan Altima and buy a previously leased Lexus GS with low mileage for around $27,000.  I asked her why she would not want to buy a brand new car for less and get a warranty.  She replied that she prefers a deluxe car like the Lexus GS, even if it is used.

This is funny, because I bought myself a brand new Hyundai Accent for $16,700 two years ago, and I swear it’s just as good as a Lexus GS.  It’s super smooth, it can zip in and out of traffic, and it’s easy to parallel park.

I like small cars, because I am short.  On the other hand, Lisa is very tall, so understandably she wants a mid-sized car.

Well, good luck, Lisa.  I hope you find the ideal car soon.

You found the perfect car for your needs. You are a small Korean woman so a small Korean car suits you best. I, on the other hand like a bigger car such as the Camry because, even though it is a Japanese car, it is made in Kentucky for the American market and even though I am not big by American standards the mid size car is right for a mid sized American.

I love my Honda Civic, which wasn’t very expensive and I (knock wood) have had no problems in over 100,000 miles with it. 🙂

i am a Ford driver. I have a Ford Focus that lives in Florida. It is small and a no-frills model, but it suits my needs just fine. I lease a Ford C-Max plug in hybrid for use in Vermont, also small but very nicely equipped with all the safety features and a comfortable riding car.

If she gets a red one she can go real fast! Comment from a young grandson to his mum when his grandma went car shopping! I disappointed him by coming home with a white one 😊
Cars are very personal possessions- what suits one person could be totally wrong for another. It’s great to give recommendations but the worst thing to do is try to sway someone’s choice. They’ll never forgive you if it turns out wrong 😊

    Good luck to her!

I side with Lisa. I had a Lexus for 14 years. When it was time to replace it I went with a new Honda Accord rather than a pre owned Lexus for the same price. On a daily basis I am reminded of the lesser quality of the Accord. If I had not had the Lexus it would be OK but I wish I had chosen the Lexus.

My next car will be a Lexus. The ride and comfort is top notch, good service records, and it is so quiet inside, like being in a nice cocoon. Good luck to Lisa!
