Securing the house to prevent crime

IMG_0989.jpg-A

This is David cleaning the windows yesterday.  It was a bright, sunny day, and I asked him to use his long arms to clean the jalousies.  He even rotated the ferns, hanging from the eaves.  This is something I clearly cannot do, because I am short and have short arms.

These windows have magnets and are wired to a command station next to the front door.  We pay a monitoring company $26 per month to notify the police or firemen in case of a breach in security or a fire.  We think it’s worth it.

Shortly after we moved into our house, someone tried to break in by removing a screen, but when he saw the magnets in the windows, he left the premises.  We have also prevented dogs and petty thieves from entering the backyard by installing a fence and a locked gate.

So, all is well.  We are snug as a bug in our nice house in a suburb of Honolulu.

Lucky you live Hawaii. I believe it is one of the safest states. In contrast to Trumps universal gun ownership I believe that we have the least gun violence in the country. We are so safe and secure and enjoying our golden years!

I think it’s wonderful that David is such a good partner. You do have a safe and secure environment, which is wonderful. I wish we all could be so fortunate. 🙂

Once again I comment on how fortunate you are — both for a safe environment and a husband who is so handy and helpful around the house. It is obvious that you both take pride in your home together.

Sounds like a good plan. We have a dog (and fortunately, strangers don’t know what a friendly goofball she is!)

You are definitely snug as a bug in a rug. Your new bakery could be Brug in the Manoa Marketplace. Just enjoying the sounds of words! 🙂

Great idea to have home security installed

  7. Joanne Noragon Says:

I need a window washer. Neither of us can stir up enthusiasm.

Been catching up on your activities after my blogging break. The mumus you pictured are most colorful and attractive. How fortunate you are to have David to assist with window and/or blind cleaning. Sounds like an effective security system, but what a shame that we have to have such. I had security doors installed for a dual purpose. They allow me to leave my doors open for fresh air when I choose to turn the A/C off. I can see out, but anyone at door can’t see in fully, if at all.

It is truly better to be safe and well protected than to be regretful later. Thankfully, we live on the 5th floor of a former mill apt and do not have the same concerns of many homeowners because of this.

Your hanging ferns and your backyard look pretty. Aren’t we lucky to have men who do things around the house?
