Ring collection

Today, I am just taking it easy, relaxing at home in Hawaii.  I decided to take some photos of my ring collection.  After all, I have taken photos of everything else, why not rings, too?  If you are looking for a deeply philosophical post, please look elsewhere.

Let’s start with my wedding ring with a half carat diamond, purchased at House of Adler (now defunct).  It took David three months to pay for it when we got engaged in 1979.    He is such a sweetheart:

These are amethyst and jade rings.  My now-deceased mother bought the jade ring for me when she traveled to Hong Kong.  Very nice of my mother to do this.  David paid for the amethyst ring, probably at Macy’s:

These are mystic topaz and blue topaz rings, which I purchased at Macy’s:

This is our tour guide, Michael, displaying a 200 carat blue topaz ring at Bhandari Jewelers in Jaipur, India in November 2012.  This ring is made for a woman with extraordinarily long fingers.  Too gaudy for me, though.  I would be embarrassed to wear it:

I think what I should look for now is a red ring, perhaps garnet or ruby.  Garnet is my birthstone, since I was born in January.  It’s a darker shade of red than ruby, but hard to find in stores.  Ruby is more popular for some reason.

When I am more energetic, I’ll browse for jewelry at Macy’s again.  Maybe, I’ll get lucky and find something that looks nice but doesn’t cost much.

    Pretty rings.

My grandmother loved garnets, and they remind me of her. She often wore a garnet necklace.

I love them all but am partial to the diamond one. That is my birthstone so if you have any extra ones …haha!

Hi Gigi, your ring collection is gorgeous! Lovely to have one ring your mother gave you, the others are very pretty too. The large ring the man is displaying is definitely too large for me but it would be great for self defense, ha! My birthstone is a ruby but I like the darker red of a garnet. I usually prefer the darker reds in most things. I have been on vacation for most of May but I am back now and enjoying catching up. We went to Alaska and my blog posts will be about my trip for a while..

Very pretty. I have a garnet ring that I got back in the 70s. I haven’t worn it for years. I lost the diamond that was in my engagement ring many years ago and never replaced it.

Since my birthstone is an amethyst, that is my favorite in your ring collection, Gigi. I too have several “nice” rings but the only one I wear all the time is a simple gold wedding band and it’s enough. I will use some of the others for dress up occasions which admittedly are few and far between these days,
