To cheer me up, David took me to Home Depot on Ala Kawa Street last Thursday to buy a plant for our coffee table. It was a bright, sunny day, just perfect for plant shopping. The nursery was open air, so I felt safe to be there.
This is the beautiful plant we purchased for our coffee table. It is a Guzmania Bromeliad:

There were other flowering plants at Home Depot. It was a visual feast, a riot of colors!

In spite of my pain and discomfort, I managed to find so much joy by looking at these beautiful flowers! They made me so happy!
This nursery at Home Depot on Ala Kawa Street is the largest and best on Oahu. There is a plethora of plants there, and you are bound to find something you like.
Cheers!

I was thinking of people on the mainland. They could not experience such beauty unless they go to a greenhouse. In HAWAII the beauty lasts year round. Oh the joy of living in paradise!

Such gorgeous flowers. Such a riot of color. Perfect for this time of the year, here on the mainland anyway where we really need a pick-up and flowers could do that. I keep thinking about buying flowers for our front yard as I just disposed of some dead fall annuals. They held on well, but the cold weather has banished them to the trash bins. I will look forward to visiting a nursery soon and getting flowers.

Our pretty bloomers are all still indoors for now. I’ll just have to enjoy the flower shop at the grocery store for now.

It somehow seems a shame that the best garden centre in Hawaii is at Home Depot. It would be lovely to be able to support a small, local business.

Beautiful, Gigi. There is something that is healing about nature and especially flowering plants. So sweetly thoughtful of David to give you that gift.
