I once belonged to American Pen Women. I was granted membership on the basis of my published books and newspaper columns. I left APW more than ten years ago for various reasons. What I remember about this club was the annual Christmas party, held either at a member’s home or at a country club. The food was always good, and we enjoyed the camaraderie.
Here is a blast from the past: The APW Christmas party in 2008. It was hosted by Susan at her lovely home in Aina Haina on Oahu.
This is the hostess, Susan, on the left, standing next to APW president, Nancy:

Here I am, dressed in black, posing with David and Dawn. Dawn died in 2018 at the age of 88. She was a close friend of mine, a talented fiction writer, and I miss her dearly:

This is Victoria, who has traveled to 55 countries, is an amazing chef, and enjoys weaving textiles:

We kissed the black angel on the cheek and received a chocolate Hershey’s Kiss from her basket:

Chucky (now deceased), Joan (who is British and once lived in Beijing, China), and Elsha (who is Dutch-Indonesian):

Baerbel, who makes beautiful handbags and scarves:

Susan hired a musician to provide entertainment. David and I enjoyed dancing to our favorite song, “Moon River”:

It was potluck. People brought their favorite dishes. I was asked for the recipe for my stir-fried shrimp, which was quite simple: Garlic, onions, shrimp, and Kikkoman Stir Fry Sauce.
Susan sold her lovely house years later, but the memory of this party in 2008 lives on! It was absolutely fabulous!!!

Looks like a nice assortment of people, Gigi–well it’s too bad you can’t get your current group of readers together, it’d be fun to meet you & David in person along with some of these other commenters :^)

Ah, reminders of good times, before the pandemic, when we could go and do and have fun and think nothing of it. We had no idea what was coming for us!
