Lunch at Thai Village

Thai Village has 5 locations on Oahu. We chose the one at Waimalu Plaza for our lunch. It was our first time dining there.

It has a bright, cheery ambience. I love the decor.

During the time we were there, only 4 tables were occupied by customers.

Very pleasant to dine in an uncrowded restaurant.

Less risk of catching the Covid.

Here we are:

Summer rolls with peanut sauce. The rolls consist of shrimp, noodles, and veggies wrapped in rice paper. The peanut sauce gives these rolls flavor:

Beef broccoli. This is a ubiquitous dish, which is not made solely by Thai people. Other cultures make this. It’s very healthy and good for you:

Pad Thai with chicken. This consists of noodles, chicken breast, tofu, bean sprouts, and green onions. Delicious:

Dessert was Banana rice cake with coconut ice cream. Banana and glutinous rice were steamed together inside a banana leaf. This hot concoction was paired with cold coconut ice cream. Delicious:

The spice level of these items was mild.

I regret not ordering Penang curry, but we wanted to try other dishes. Next time, I’ll order it. What’s a Thai meal without curry?

This cuisine reminded me of my time in Thailand. I taught English in Bangkok for ten months in 1969. It was the experience of a lifetime!
