Lisa had the Covid

Lisa and Maria

I didn’t know that Lisa had the Covid while she was staying with us for 10 days (May 27-June 6) until Maria told me so last week. I was shocked. When Lisa was here, she developed a bad cough and a migraine towards the end of her vacation, but, I didn’t think it was the Covid. In fact, she took our home test, and it was negative.

Then, Lisa took the test again at the hospital where she works in Nevada, and it was positive. She called to ask how I was feeling. When I told her I was okay, she said she had the “Covid.” But I thought she said she had a “Cold.” Man, I really should have my hearing checked!

Anyway, I never bothered to test myself and neither did David. For all we know, we might have had the Covid. We both were asymptomatic and still are. Our vaccines are effective.

Even though you have been vaccinated, you really should wear your mask. Lisa was fully vaxed including 2 boosters, but she got sick, nevertheless. It’s because she didn’t wear her mask when she was in crowded social situations. And just think: She flew in a crowded plane back to Nevada, unaware she had the Covid!

On July 10, we will be attending a musical at a local high school. I am going to wear a mask, but David said that he won’t wear his. Very foolish of him.

Oh, well, you will die of something sooner or later. Covid? Cancer? Pick your poison!

I really never liked wearing a mask. I had difficulty breathing. There have been stories about the effectiveness of mask wearing. Sure if you are coughing or sneezing in public wearing a mask will help you from spreading germs. I saw the nba draft at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn which contained thousands of people and not one person was wearing a mask. It is a matter of personal choice.

Well, the important thing here is that Lisa’s COVID didn’t worsen, or make you or David sick. And that’s a really pretty picture of your girls! Gigi, I don’t know if it’s intentional but you make me laugh. Yes, we’re all going to die of something! Now please go easy on David! 😄👍👍

…I hope that you are well.

  4. Valerie-Jael Says:

How awful. I hope she didn’t infect too many other people. Valerie

  5. AC Says:

We are still being cautious. I try not to put myself in harm’s way.

  6. Arkansas Patti Says:

Sure hope she recovers nicely and glad you were spared. We aren’t done with this thing yet. I had a good friend get it this week. Also a neighbor I seldom see also came down with it. My friend sounds like she has a really bad cold. My neighbor is very high risk and being monitored.

It is very difficult to put a mask on again. Now I am accustomed to going without one and when I am in a place that requires a mask it makes me miserable. I can see why David feels like he does. “Pick your poison” is right.

  8. Christine Says:

It seems everyone has been touched by covid or sooner or later…,

  9. dkzody Says:

Yes, it’s an inconvenience to wear a mask, but really not a big deal. Because case counts are up here in the San Joaquin Valley, we are still wearing our masks. Masks are required in all medical venues so I trust the doctors to know what’s best. Terry and I have stayed well, and I would be very sad to ruin our healthy streak because we let our guard down.

  10. Elephant's Child Says:

I am glad that you escaped. And yes, I would be/am still wearing a mask in crowded places.

  11. marmeladegypsy Says:

I’m so sorry Lisa had it and hope she is fully better. Rick was vaxed/boosted but while he has technically recovered, he is still terribly tired and coughing some. I’m glad you have escaped. Yes, wear your mask (and David too!)

  12. minsungch Says:

I am glad you and David didn’t contract Coronavirus!!!! What about other family members other than Lisa?

  13. Tom from Sightings Says:

Where I live in PA everybody is vaccinated but nobody is wearing a mask — except in the doctor offices. I figure they know something so I wear mine indoors. Like dkzody says, it’s inconvenient but not a big dea.

  14. wisewebwoman Says:

I sure hope she didn’t infect the entire plane. Forecasts of the new variant for the summer don’t bear thinking about.
I am religious about mask wearing even though it’s uncomfortable. Duh.

  15. DJan Says:

For most vaccinated and boosted people, Covid doesn’t cause a serious illness. I’m sure glad nobody caught Covid from her! 🙂

  16. Nancy Chan Says:

Good to know that David and you are alright. It is safer to wear mask when in crowded places even though most covid cases are quite mild.

  17. DeniseinVA Says:

I hope you and David stay healthy. Sorry to hear Lisa was sick. We have had a few family members who had Covid. One sadly passed away with it but the others were younger and have since recovered, with various degrees from nasty to light symptoms. All have been vaccinated and boosted. Even before Covid I would still come down with respiratory infections, being very susceptible to these issues, one so severe I had a hard time breathing and had to go to the ER. But with this time of wearing masks I haven’t even had so much as a cold. I am still inclined to wear my mask.

  18. Iris Flavia Says:

Two customers… same! We will have to live with it… or, as you say… die of “something”. Let´s be happy with every day we have!

  19. Beatrice Says:

Very sorry to read that your daughter had Covid and hopefully she has fully recovered, Gigi. It’s good that no one else in your immediate family was infected. I can certainly understand the pros and cons of wearing a mask and like others, it is difficult for me to wear one again. That said, if it was mandatory then there would be no hesitation.
