Let there be peace

There is an old folk song that begins: “Let there be peace on Earth, and let it begin with me…”

How beautiful! I just love it. If everybody would follow that advice, then there would be no murders or wars in the world.

I admire China. Yes, it is a dictatorship, but because of it, there are no mass murders in China. We never read about a man entering an elementary school and gunning down innocent children. No one dares to do that in China. No one. That is one good reason to admire China.

In daily life, why can’t there be peace between individuals? Why do we go out of our way to argue with someone, always striving to be the one to win the argument? Why can’t we just let go of the anger and rancor? It just doesn’t pay to argue.

Which is why I hate politics, politicians, and political debates. Politicians are full of hot air.

So, instead of arguing, it’s better to agree to disagree and move on. Focus on more pleasant topics and have a pleasant time with people.

Instead of anger and rancor, let there be peace.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYONE!

I do not agree with you on China, however I choose to disagree and will not discuss this further.
I truly believe that peace does begin with all of us.

Good thoughts on the whole, but for China, please look up Uyghurs.

A wonderful message. And I love that song. Happy Thanksgiving, Gigi.

  7. Arkansas Patti Says:

It really could be that simple if we just let it. Sure would be worth a try.

  8. Linda Reeder Says:

Well, you lost me on China, and then you used the word “hate”. Politicians are people too, just trying to do the job of running our government, and that’s not easy, considering all of the varying opinions we the people have. Ponder this a bit.
Then move on and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

  9. Elephant's Child Says:

Peace in the world is a wonderful goal, achieving it is the difficult part. Grenville and I hope you have a peaceful Thanksgiving.

  15. Olga Says:

I pray for peace but I don’t believe we all have to agree on everything to achieve it. I would hope for respectful and civil disagreement and the wisdom to consider different perspectives. Ahh, someday, let it be so.
I do believe peace begins with each of us, Eventually a critical mass will be achieved.

So true. I also wonder if people really had to go at each other one on one… would there be war? Would tiny Putin march up to Selenskyj and try to kill him? Or what if women ruled?
Or what if we were just content with what we have. As you say: Give your opinion and that was that. Too simple?

  17. David Gascoigne Says:

I could not disagree with you more on China. Ask the Uyghers, talk to the two Canadians who were held as hostages for over two years as political pawns, check with the people of Hong Kong to see how they like oppression. As for the news that comes out of China you receive only what the government permits. It is very doubtful that you have the full story.
