Shingrix Vaccine screw up?

I had my Shingrix vaccine on December 27 at Long’s Drugs in my neighborhood. I was charged $47 for it, just a fraction of what David had to pay for his first dose years ago.

I hope the pharmacist gave me the right vaccine. When he called me in for my shot, he said, “You’re here for the Pfizer.” I said, “No, I’m here for the Shingles vaccine.” He replied, “Oh, right, long day.” Then, he injected me.

Man, what an idiot this pharmacist is! I wish I had asked to see the label. Too late now. I am due for a second shot in March.

If I do get the Shingles in the future, then I’ll know that this pharmacist screwed up and gave me the wrong vaccine.

I dread the sharp, tingling pain and rash associated with Shingles. It can last for years or a lifetime.

I did my Shringrix vaccine about five years ago. I knew several people that had Shingles and it really knocked them out for weeks. I previously had the Zoster vaccine, but I knew it was not that effective. The Shingrix is 97% effective in healthy adults in preventing Shingles. I got the vaccine as soon as it became available.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed that he gave you the right shot. Shingles is indeed most unpleasant. My health insurance pays for all necessary vaccines. Have a great day, Valerie

I got my Shingrix shots the summer of 2021, but boy did each one make me sick as a dog for a day! Mine didn’t cost me anything though… so how long are they supposed to last?

We had our Shingrix vaccies a few years ago and they seem to have given us the protection we need. My sister-in-law had it and she was in agony.

I do hope it was the right vaccine. I would be worried too.

That is the problem! Not enough people for the job and hence they mix up, eventually! I still have no doc.
Hope it was the right stuff you got!

The guy giving the injection was probably just tired and had been saying Pfizer or Moderna all day long for the COVID vaccine. You were an outlier with the shingles shot. Yes, Terry got one over a decade ago and paid over $200 for it. Now, Medicare and other insurance has figured out it’s much cheaper to pay for the vaccine than pay later for a case of shingles. I’ve had light cases twice, and my doctor said I am the 40 percent who will get it more than once and vaccine could even set it off so I don’t get the vaccine. I do know the signs of shingles and can get to a doctor very quickly should it spring up again.
