Maile’s Thai Bistro (Hawaii Kai)

If you want to experience absolutely fabulous food, take a leisurely drive to Maile’s Thai Bistro in Hawaii Kai. It was my first time there, and, boy, I was just blown away!

There are 2 locations: Hawaii Kai and Ward. We chose the branch in Hawaii Kai Towne Center on Keahole Street off Kalanianaole Highway, because it is more accessible for physically handicapped people like us. There were 2 handicapped stalls in front of the restaurant. We were so lucky that one of them was empty.

This restaurant, which opened in 2008, serves what I would call Thai Fusion cuisine. The owner, Maile Sengoura, grew up in Hawaii and worked in restaurants owned by her uncle and aunt as well as other entrepreneurs. She was influenced by her early exposure to Thai, Laotian, French, and Italian cooking.

Maile Sengoura (very pretty and talented chef):

This is Maile’s Thai Bistro in Hawaii Kai:

Here we are, David and I:

Maile Rolls (Rice paper wrappers, lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, long rice, shrimp, and ground pork with peanut sauce for dipping and garnished with carrots):

Thai Short Ribs (To me, this resembled Korean Kalbi, consisting of beef short ribs, marinated in a sweet ginger and garlic soy sauce, topped with Chinese parsley):

Evil Princess (Chicken, red curry sauce, long beans, onions, bamboo shoots, and Thai basil):

Dessert consisted of Mango, sticky rice, and sweetened coconut milk, garnished with mint:

It was all so divine. We had such a wonderful meal. Are you drooling?

You can’t go wrong dining at Maile’s Thai Bisto. The menu is 6 pages long, so we’ll definitely be back to try other dishes. I highly recommend this restaurant.
