Promoting culture and the arts

There are 2 topics that interest most men: POLITICS AND SPORTS. I’ll discuss politics and sports sometimes, but not on a daily basis.

Politicians are known for being sleazy and immoral. I am pro-life and anti-guns. Try finding a politician, who feels the same way I do.

As for sports, there is so much violence on the field. I know a lot of people will be watching the Super Bowl. I probably will watch highlights. But I am just not into football.

What do I like to discuss? I like to talk about CULTURE AND THE ARTS.

I like to visit art galleries and converse about art with other art lovers. I like to buy art, too, and find a spot for it on my wall.

I like to discuss culinary arts. How awesome it is to prepare and plate the food so beautifully, set the table so nicely, and do everything possible to enhance one’s dining experience.

I like to discuss classical music, the opera, and Broadway musicals. To experience top notch talent on stage is simply breathtaking.

I like to discuss travels to foreign destinations and foreign cultures. I have been to 13 foreign countries and enjoyed every single one.

I wish I could socialize with people just like me.

Anybody want to discuss politics and sports? Go sit with David.

I’ll shut the door and quietly tiptoe away.

I must say that I am a music major and have considerable knowledge of classical music, ballet and opera. I have also seen many Broadway musicals even though most have not been live shows. Thus feel free to discuss with me a broad range of topics beyond sports and politics.

Gigi, if I’d known sooner I would have sent you a link to a Zoom open mic night from Ottawa Guitar Society for classical guitarists that Rick participated in last night. They were surprisingly good! I’m with you on promoting and supporting the arts. I don’t know what my life would be like without them.

…perhaps I’m just half a man, I enjoy politics and can’t stand sports.

  4. Christine Says:

I am not much interested in sports, beyond maybe the final scores of basketball or tennis

  5. Elephant's Child Says:

I am more interested in politics than my partner (though I dislike and distrust many politicians). Neither of us like sport. He is much more interested in music than I am, and both of us like the arts. It seems that both of us are neither one thing nor the other.

“Politicians are known for being sleazy and immoral.”
With that highly negative and judgmental attitude, yes, please spare us political thoughts.

  7. Nancy Chan Says:

I will read the news but not into politics. For sports, it will depends on what type of sports and who is playing.

  8. Kaye Says:

Haha Gigi, I love your attitude. Some bloggers get all upset when someone criticizes them but you know how to handle them!!!!

Love your articles about enjoying life with family, friends, art, music and food.

Oh, I am lucky Ingo and I share many interests.
In politics we have sometimes different views, but not always. Discussing that with my Brother… thin ice.
Often with this subject it´s thin ice.
When we had a weekend-relationship Ingo always took the time on Sundays evenings to make me creative food for the sad Mondays…

I totally understand about sports. A high school football player died while I was in grade school. My Mom didn’t let my two brothers play football, but one brother was in the band (as was I). The marching band supplied great exercise without combat. I also studied ballet for ten years so got plenty of exercise several times a week. We all grew up just fine without high impact sports.

I’m with you Gigi! Culture and the arts all the way…with some comedy, cooking and gardening too! ☺

  12. Tom from Sightings Says:

I’ve always thought that to be consistent a person should be either pro-life and anti-guns, or else pro-abortion and pro-guns. But nobody seems to agree with me. Btw, you forgot money. Men like to talk about money … and technology.
