Sometimes, I wonder about David. Now that he is retired, his mind seems to dwell on rather strange things.
For example, he wonders when he will die and if he will outlive his savings.
The other day, he looked up “Life Expectancy Calculator” on the Internet. He answered 30 or so questions on the long form (not the 5 questions on the short form), dealing with heredity, life style, weight, etc.
According to this questionnaire, David will live to age 90.
He also took the test for me. I will live to age 92.
Since he is three years younger than me, he will outlive me by one year.
Judging from our individual savings accounts, he figured out the amount he and I can withdraw from savings each year until we die.
At this time, however, we tend to live on income and not touch savings. Besides, we want to leave some money for our heirs.
Per the questionnaire, I will die in 23 years. David will die in 24 years.
Of course, death could come sooner if we step out of the house and get hit by a truck.

If only there were really a calculator that could tell us how long we will live. I figure with my family history, I should already be a memory. Last I checked, I’m still here! 🙂

It must be natural to think such thoughts from time to time. I can imagine every time you hit a decade like say 50 or 70.

Do you have long-term care insurance? If one of you needs nursing home care it can run $10,000+ per month….

Why worry about anything, life and the laws of nature have a way of evenening out everything..One can be happy and or anxious, I say Happy! You live in Hawaii the longest lived people in the USA something about the juju as they call it the natives and others who inhabit that paradise, why worry be happy attitude..Your husband sounds like he will live a long and happy life and you too. My mother passed early and I was left motherless and then fatherless early.. I have learned life is to be savored each and everyday and that one cannot predict much, even the weather! Big drought in Washington state where we reside, I prayed and prayed for some relief we are getting rain now something in scarce commodity, it feels good, even the weather people with all their educations and this and that did not see it coming, I could feel it in the many bones I have broken just living and it feels great, I feel like running outside and doing a rain happy dance, small wonders make me happy..Aloha and have a most peaceful, joyful and loving week!

David is a planner. I’ve been trying to get David to take this test. I’m fairly sure I will outlive him and we’ve planned accordingly.
