I have good news to report. My recent eye exam went well.
I show no signs of glaucoma or macular degeneration, two conditions that can lead to blindness. I do have cataracts in both eyes, but they don’t impede my vision. There is no need for cataract surgery at this time.
My vision is quite good. 20/30 in my left eye, and 20/40 in my right eye. Dr. Young told me to buy reading glasses online. They should be +2.00.
So, I ordered a set of 5 reading glasses and 5 pouches from Amazon. The entire set cost $18 plus tax. What a bargain! Shipping was free, because we are Prime members. They were made in China and shipped from Ohio. They got to Hawaii in no time. They fit me perfectly.
All of this for only $18:
I have reading glasses next to my sofa, where I read the newspaper, iPhone, and tablet.
And there are glasses in my purse.
However, I still use my previous glasses, which are weaker, for the desktop computer.
That leaves me with 3 unused reading glasses, which are stored in my bedroom drawer. They will be used when the other glasses are scratched or broken.
I just love them!

You really know how to stretch your medical dollars. If you had prescription glasses made you could easily spend $100.00 per pair. I agree with you. Those glasses are a bargain!

Always good to have spares. I have progressives which are expensive. My backup is an old pair which is not quite the same prescription. I should get another pair

I am in the same boat but nowhere near as organized as you are. I tend to be loosey-goosey (on purpose really), and I doubt if you are. Chacun à son goût. Your way is better, but whaddayagonnado? I buy my reading glasses at Longs. Never thought of going on line. Maybe I will next times. My number would be 2.75 or 3.00. You are quite right about the computer because it is not at the same distance from your eyes as a book, newspaper, or magazine would be. In my case, cataract removal looms ahead this summer.

Congratulations on your eye exam. I order similar glasses, three of them I use for the computer laptop as it has a blue filter in them that stops my eyes getting tired after a few minutes.

That sounds like very good vision to me. After cataract surgery I have 20/20 vision in my right eye, but I cannot read without reading glasses. In some ways I was better off when I had to wear glasses all the time, but my prescription was very expensive. I keep reading glasses in every room. I tried hanging a pair on a chain, but they just got in my way, I also have a pair of prescription glasses since my left eye still has quite poor vision, but I can’t wear them after the detached retina. I will get a new prescription in June when I see my ophthalmologist in June.

I was relieved when I had a thorough eye exam recently – no degenerative eye disease so far. I wear my prescription glasses all of the time.

Those are the times. First of all: Yay your eyes are not in danger!
But having a Brother who´s an old-fashioned optometrist it kinda hurts a bit how his profession goes down the drain a bit. Well, these are times, a changing, right.

Does your eyes get tired reading on the computer? I use blue light reading glasses and it helps. I’m also like you where I have reading glasses all over the place and keep them in my bag for when I’m out and about.

Actually, my eyes don’t get tired. I take frequent breaks from the computer.
